Old Timer Car Rental in Kotor:
A Complete Guide.

By Wanderlust Agency · Kotor, Montenegro · 2026-05-28

There's something about a vintage car moving through the medieval streets of Kotor that just works. The stone, the sea light, the curves of the bay — and a classic Fića or Yugo holding the frame. It's a combination that produces photographs people actually print and put on walls.

Here's everything you need to know about renting an old timer in Kotor — from what cars are available to the best routes to take.

What is an old timer rental?

An old timer rental is exactly what it sounds like: you rent a classic vintage car, typically from the Yugoslav era (1950s-1990s), and drive it through the scenery of Kotor Bay. Unlike a conventional car hire, this is less about getting from A to B efficiently and more about the experience of being in something beautiful, historic, and genuinely different.

Our old timer fleet consists of iconic Yugoslav classics — primarily the Zastava 750 (universally known as the "Fića") and others from the same era. These are small, characterful cars that attract attention everywhere they go.

Yugoslavia's answer to the Fiat 500. Tiny, charming, impossible to drive without smiling. The most iconic car of the Balkans.

Best routes for your old timer drive

The Kotor Old Town Loop (30-45 minutes)

Park near the sea gate, photograph the car against the ancient walls, drive along the waterfront toward Dobrota. A short loop but with extraordinary backdrops. Perfect if you're combining with a boat tour or just want a few hours.

The Serpentine Road to Lovcen (1-2 hours)

The famous 25-hairpin road above Kotor is one of the great drives of the Adriatic coast. In an old timer, it becomes something else entirely. The views from the top — the entire bay laid out below you — are extraordinary. Note: the Fića is small-engined and this is a steep climb. Go at leisure, stop often, enjoy it.

The Coastal Village Road (2-3 hours)

Follow the bay from Kotor northward — Dobrota, Ljuta, Morinj, Risan, and on to Perast if you have time. Every village has a different character. Stop for coffee in Perast, photograph Our Lady of the Rocks from the shore, and return the long way. A full afternoon of pure coastal Montenegro.

📸 Photography tip The best light for old timer photos is early morning or golden hour (1-2 hours before sunset). The streets of Kotor Old Town are quietest before 9am — perfect for unobstructed shots.

Renting for weddings and special occasions

Old timer weddings are popular in Montenegro and we do many of them. We can decorate the vehicle in your chosen style, coordinate timing with your photographer, and provide a driver if needed. The Fića has appeared in dozens of Kotor weddings — it photographs beautifully against the city gates.

For wedding bookings, we ask for at least 2 weeks' notice to ensure availability and allow time for any decorations you'd like. Contact us on WhatsApp with your date and requirements.

What to expect on the day

Pickup is at our base in front of Kotor Old Town. We'll show you the controls (they're simple — these are old cars), give you a route suggestion if you want one, and send you on your way. We're always reachable by WhatsApp if you need anything during your rental.

Minimum rental is 2 hours. We don't charge per kilometre — just the flat hourly/daily rate. Fuel is included.
